Santa Cruz Chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby forming

Hi everyone,

A new Chapter of the Nationwide "Citizens Climate Lobby" is forming in Santa Cruz County, and we are recruiting new members who are interested in working towards a Carbon Fee and Dividend Act that will place a fee on carbon emissions and give the income generated right back to the people to help them defray the increased price of carbon-based fuels. The theory behind this plan is that as the fee goes up (it increases per ton of emissions yearly), so the producers will be encouraged to put more effort into alternatives to carbon-based energy, and the financial markets will also put more money into alternatives, gradually equalizing the playing field and making alternatives a smarter way to go. All the while not penalizing those who are forced to use carbon-based fuels through no fault of their own. Check out CCL at http://citizensclimatelobby.org/.

We think it is an exciting approach, and one that has a chance of passing, given that it is NOT a tax!

Please join us!  Email me at phpainter@cruzio.com if you are interested in joining this group!
